Originally from Canada, director/producer Anne Stirling has been in New Mexico since 1990. Building upon a successful career as a management consultant, Anne turned her attention to independent producing and directing in 2001.
Anne's credits include:
- co-producing for television, including 26 half-hours with Think Visual, Inc., in Newfoundland;
- writing, directing and producing documentary shorts, including an eight-minute documentary short she produced called "Ron's Gift" that premiered at the St. John’s International Women’s Film Festival in Newfoundland-Labrador, and was screened at the 2004 DOXA documentary film & video festival in Vancouver, Canada;
- writing, directing and producing feature-length documentaries (Why Get Married?, her first feature documentary, has screened in Canada, the US and New Zealand, toured 2005-2006 festivals, aired in New Zealand 2007 on the country’s documentary channel, and is now available on DVD;
- currently executive producing the Director’s Cut New Mexico series, which is sponsored by the NM non-profit organization Friends of Film, Video and Arts (FoFVA); and
- several other projects at various stages of development and production, including follow-up pieces for Why Get Married?.
Anne enjoys developing innovative collaborations with colleagues on both sides of the Canadian-US border. She continues to work with both Newfoundland-Labrador and New Mexico artists and filmmakers on various projects as well as participating in various filmmaker-friendly organizations. One of her passionate projects is Friends of Film, Video and Arts, a non-profit she founded in 2004 as a way to connect indie filmmakers with one another to share information, resources and opportunities.
